Mission
The founders of Urban Cyber, in partnership with YWCA, plan to open the 6-12 grade cyber charter school in the fall of 2013. Urban Cyber is partnering with national-level YWCA leadership to utilize local YWCA facilities as needed to provide optional enrichment activities. In partnering with local YWCAs throughout Pennsylvania, Urban Cyber will provide regionally accessible facilities, called Urban Cyber Cafes, as central brick and mortar locations with added educational resources for cyber students, This progressive collaboration is designed to fill the void of in-person tools and teacher access not currently available through traditional cyber school programs.
Urban Cyber’s progressive educational model is based on rigorous academics, relationship building, a small community learning environment, state of the art technology, a blended model of career directions, strong community partnerships and a plethora of support through in person services at the Urban Cyber Cafés. When students choose to join the Urban Cyber family, they will expand their opportunities beyond those offered in traditional public schools. They will be consistently challenged to transform their individual dreams into reality and will have the opportunity to break the generational cycle of urban distress.
